Shaped like the side profile of a woman’s dress shoe, this lot configuration presented an opportunity to demonstrate the advantages of the design/build process. Using strong axial lines, the floor plan coordinates all three levels of the home with the garden, pool, and pool houses outside.
Precast panels were used to create an elegant entry.
The entry doors are made of vertical grain fir, one of my favorite woods to work with.
The entrance lantern highlights the beauty of the groin vaulted ceiling.
Each axial line in the home is centered on the inset tile mosaic located in the entry.
Great proportions make this room beautiful. Finishes and furnishings should add to the collective beauty of the architecture and not act as a substitute for poor design.
The living room and dining room spaces are defined by precast concrete columns and a gentle arch.

The great room and kitchen areas communicate well with each other.
The kitchen has a hard-working layout. This includes a small utility sink in the island.
I really enjoy selecting details like the entry hardware in this picture.

I like the repetition created by the three garage doors.
The stone masonry and precast window surround create a beautiful window.
